The Icelandic fresh-fish trawler Jóhanna Gísladóttir GK arrived in Hafnarfjörður on 23 November with a full load after a fast and successful trip.

The vessel is landing its catch today. This was the first voyage in the skipper’s chair for Sindri Kristjánsson, who has worked for Vísir for about ten years.

Strong catch in under two days

Sindri said the crew focused on redfish. They fished in Nætursalan and the eastern corner of Víkuráll.

The catch came quickly, with the hold filled in just under 48 hours. “It could hardly have gone better,” the skipper said.

Calm weather after a cold start

Conditions improved as the trip went on. “There was a bit of cold weather at first, but then it was good,” skipper Sindri Kristjánsson noted.

The crew did not stay long in port. According to Sindri, Jóhanna Gísladóttir left port later the same day for another round of fishing.
