Blængur NK arrived in Neskaupstaður early last week after a 22-day trip with 470 tonnes of catch. The value of the catch is reported at ISK 364 million – about € 2,467,000.
The crew were in good spirits after what they described as a smooth and steady period at sea.
Skipper Bjarni Ólafur Hjálmarsson said the weather held up well during the trip. There were no major storms, and the crew stayed on the East Fjords grounds and off the southeast coast for the whole period.
Mixed Catch With Rise in Prices
The trip brought mainly haddock, with cod, saithe and Greenland halibut also landed. There were no large bursts of catch, but the skipper said there was “steady fishing all the way.”
The key point, he added, was the rise in prices, which the crew feel on every trip now.
Landing took place the day after, and Blængur went back out for a new fishing trip shortly thereafter.
