A new Scottish demersal trawler, Vigilant PD 365, has commenced operations following delivery to Lunar Fishing in early December 2025.
The 36-metre vessel was built and fitted out at Karstensens Shipyard in Skagen and is a sister ship to Ocean Way PD 465.
A Modern Addition to the Fleet
Vigilant is designed for brutal weather and heavy-duty fishing. It measures 36 metres in length and 10 metres in width, with a tonnage of 520 GT.
The trawler is powered by a 735 kW main engine and is equipped with gear tailored for demanding demersal fisheries. According to the yard and suppliers, the focus has been on reliability and fuel efficiency.
Built in Denmark and Bound for Peterhead
The vessel was completed in autumn 2025 and frequently spotted in Skagen during trials and outfitting. It now sails under the UK flag, with IMO number 9995507, and will operate in the Peterhead area.
It continues Lunar Fishing’s long-term strategy of fleet renewal using specialised builds from Karstensens.
Strengthening Scottish Capacity
The delivery marks yet another Scottish export success for Karstensens Shipyard, which has produced several vessels of similar size in recent years.
Lunar Fishing, a family-owned company established in 1981, now operates both Vigilant PD 365 and Ocean Way PD 465.
The company focuses on demersal and whitefish fisheries and runs its own processing arm, Lunar Freezing & Cold Storage.
