After a short, quiet period, the Nordic fisheries news site Fish Break is returning to regular updates — alongside plans for a significant editorial shift in the months ahead.
Daily publishing resumes today after a brief slowdown due to a combination of holiday time and ongoing website restructuring.
Editor Edmund Jacobsen says the pause has allowed time to refine the concept and prepare a clearer editorial direction for the future.
Temporary slowdown while the site was restructured
Fish Break has been quieter than usual during February while work was carried out behind the scenes to reorganise parts of the site and review the long-term strategy.
That process is now largely complete, allowing the platform to resume its normal rhythm of daily fisheries news.
Clear editorial shift toward pelagic fisheries
The biggest change will come in the editorial focus.
Until now, Fish Break has covered fisheries across the Nordic region. In the coming months, however, the site will gradually move toward exclusive coverage of pelagic fisheries.
Pelagic fishing plays a central role in several key North Atlantic fishing nations, including the Nordic countries, Ireland, and Scotland.
Reader data has also shown that pelagic stories consistently attract the strongest interest on Fish Break. Articles on pelagic fisheries account for the vast majority of readership on the site.
Deeper coverage and possible new name
Under the updated concept, Fish Break will concentrate on delivering news, interviews and in-depth reporting from the pelagic sector across Northern Europe.
The aim is to provide focused, high-quality journalism on the industry, its vessels, companies, and policy developments.
As part of this repositioning, the site may adopt a new name within the next two to three months to better reflect its specialised pelagic focus.
Details of any changes will be communicated well in advance.
For now, the priority is simple: daily reporting resumes — with a stronger and more specialised editorial direction ahead.
