The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) has opened its 2025 Stakeholder Survey, calling on people across the globe to share their views on sustainable seafood and the future of the oceans.
The MSC is best known for its blue fish label, found on thousands of seafood products around the world. The label means the fish comes from a certified sustainable source.
Today, more than 20,000 products carry this mark. But as the MSC points out, the challenges facing oceans are growing—climate change, biodiversity loss, and changing markets all put pressure on fisheries.
Listening to Stakeholders
To meet these challenges, the MSC says it needs to listen. The survey asks for views on how well the organisation is performing, how trusted the label is, and where priorities should lie for the years ahead. The results will feed directly into its new strategy.
“Feedback from our partners and the public is vital,” the MSC explains. “We want to understand where we are succeeding and where we can do better. Together, we can protect seafood supplies for the future.”
The survey is open to anyone, from fishing crews and retailers to scientists, NGOs, and everyday shoppers. It is online, available in ten languages, and takes about 10 minutes to complete.
Shaping the Future of Oceans
The MSC says responses will be analysed and shared later this year, giving all participants a chance to see how their views are shaping decisions. For many, this is a unique opportunity to influence one of the most recognised voices in global ocean sustainability.
The 2025 Stakeholder Survey is live now and will remain open until 12 September 2025.
