A new freezer stern trawler for Havbryn AS has been successfully launched in Romania, marking a key step in the renewal of the Norwegian company’s fishing fleet.

The vessel was launched at Vard Shipyards Romania in Braila and will replace the current Havbryn, which was delivered in 2013.

A modern replacement for an ageing vessel

The new trawler is 80.4 metres long and is based on the VARD 802 design. It is designed for efficient, sustainable fishing, featuring advanced trawling systems and a hull strengthened for icy waters.

The vessel is Ice-1A classified, allowing it to operate safely in cold northern waters.

On board, the ship features a modern processing factory with separate areas for frozen and chilled products. This layout is designed to ensure high-quality handling of the catch and to optimise each fishing trip.

Focus on crew comfort and safety

Crew welfare has been a clear priority in the design. The vessel features modern cabins, a gym, and carefully designed interior spaces designed to improve daily life at sea. The goal is to make long trips safer, calmer, and more comfortable for the crew.
