Skagen Port landed a record 423,797 tonnes of fish in 2025, equal to 62% of all fish landed in Denmark, according to new figures from the Danish Fisheries Agency.

The port also increased its share of total landing value to 43%, with landings worth DKK 1.75 billion (about EUR 235 million).

The results confirm Skagen’s position as the country’s largest fishing port, both by volume and value, in a year marked by falling national landings.

Record year for volume and value

Total Danish landings in 2025 reached 683,579 tonnes, with a total value of DKK 4.05 billion (about EUR 543 million). Skagen alone accounted for nearly two-thirds of the volume. Both landed weight and value in Skagen were the highest on record.

The growth was mainly driven by higher landings of industrial fish, which offset broader sector challenges.

Prices up, mixed trends in consumption species

Average fish prices rose across all segments in 2025. At the same time, landings of herring and deep-sea shrimp for human consumption fell. Volumes of Norway lobster and whitefish for consumption remained in line with the previous year.

Investments aimed at 2026 growth

Skagen Port director Willy B. Hansen said the results were achieved despite a general decline in Danish fish landings. He pointed to expectations for 2026, supported by shore power during landings and a new auction quay with greater water depth, designed to improve conditions for vessels.
