Veibust Fiskeriselskap AS formally named its new vessel MS Havfisk in Ålesund on Saturday, 11 April, marking the company’s fourth newbuild. The vessel has been in active fishing since delivery, but has not yet been christened until now.
The ceremony will take place at Storneskaia, where the vessel will be open to the public after the naming event. Godmother Martine Veibust will perform the naming.
Fourth newbuild for the fleet
Havfisk is the latest addition to the fleet owned and operated by Henning Veibust. It is the fourth newbuild delivered to the company.
The vessel was designed and outfitted by Karstensens Skibsværft in Skagen, Denmark. The hull was built in Poland before final completion in Denmark.
The vessel arrived in Ålesund in May 2025 and has been fishing since delivery.
Focus on safety, comfort and environment
The owner highlights a strong focus on working conditions, safety and crew comfort during the build.
According to the company, the design includes an enclosed cargo deck and a raised aft trawl deck. This increases freeboard and improves safety during operations.
The vessel is also designed to reduce noise and improve environmental performance. The owner says the project emphasised modern, efficient solutions throughout the ship.
Modern pelagic vessel with strong capacity
Havfisk is a modern pelagic vessel equipped for demanding fisheries. It measures 75.1 metres in length and 16.2 metres in beam.
The vessel is powered by a 5,200 kW main engine. It is fitted with advanced fish-handling systems, including RSW tanks and vacuum systems.
It is also equipped with modern fishing technology and processing systems, reflecting current standards in the pelagic fleet.
