Royal Greenland has named Toke Binzer as its next Chief Executive Officer, effective 1 December 2025.
The appointment marks a significant step for the seafood giant, which is both a global exporter and one of Greenland’s most important employers.
Local roots, global outlook
Binzer, who grew up in Nuuk, returns to lead the company after building a career in global business. He has held senior positions at IBM and TDC, and most recently served as head of Tusass, Greenland’s telecom provider.
Chair of the Royal Greenland board, Niels Thomsen, welcomed the appointment, calling Binzer “a strong and modern leader” who combines strategic focus with a deep understanding of Greenland. “We share ambitions for execution and a strong local foundation,” Thomsen said.
Experience across industries
The incoming CEO has worked on complex transformation projects in large corporations, an experience that the board believes will strengthen Royal Greenland’s global reach. At the same time, his leadership in Tusass gave him insight into Greenland’s business landscape and community needs.
Ulrik Blidorf, Chair of Tusass, praised Binzer’s impact at the telecom firm: “He brought professionalism, strategic vision and strong execution skills. We are convinced he will also strengthen Royal Greenland.”
Deep ties to Greenland
Binzer returned to Nuuk in 2022 with his wife and two sons. His personal connection to the country, combined with his professional track record, is seen as a fundamental asset for Royal Greenland, which employs thousands and plays a prominent role in Greenland’s economy.
In his own words, Binzer described the role as “a great honour.” He added, “Royal Greenland plays a vital role in both the economy and in people’s daily lives. I look forward to strengthening our international business and creating value for the whole of Greenland.”
Looking ahead
Royal Greenland is one of the world’s largest suppliers of cold-water prawns, Greenland halibut, cod and snow crab. With Binzer at the helm, the company aims to balance its international growth with its mission as a cornerstone of Greenland’s society.
