More than 13,700 visitors from 49 countries flocked to Aalborg, Denmark, last week for DanFish International 2025, marking a 7% increase in attendance compared with the previous edition.

The Aalborg Kongres & Kultur Centre (AKKC), which hosted the three-day event, said the rise confirms that the world’s fisheries industry still sees DanFish as “the place to be.”

Strong comeback after pandemic years

AKKC director Nicolaj Holm said the growth was a clear sign that the fair has regained momentum after the COVID-19 dip.

“After Corona, we saw a small decline, but this year the curve has turned up again,” he said. “We’re thrilled to see 13,708 visitors from 49 different countries.”

65.6% of participants have purchasing power or can influence purchasing decisions in their companies, and concrete deals are also made at the fair.

With 400 exhibitors from 30 nations, the fair also featured new events such as NordicRas and the DanAqua exhibition on aquaculture, alongside the Danske Maritimes conference on green propulsion. Together, these helped attract both new and returning professionals.

Exhibitors use DanFish to showcase industry news and maintain and create networks that can lead to future deals.

Ministers and major players on the floor

Among the guests was Greenland’s Minister for Fisheries, Hunting, Agriculture and Supply, Peter Borg, who stressed the fair’s importance for Arctic stakeholders.

“DanFish has long been a key meeting point. Greenlandic companies come here to find new products, partners, and even shipyards,” Borg said.

The event’s international pull was evident, with decision-makers making up over 65% of attendees — and many doing real business on the spot.

Electric innovation makes waves

One of the tangible successes came from Aalborg-based firm Beritech, which sold its fully electric shrimp cooker to a Norwegian customer for DKK 650,000.

“It’s fantastic when clients see Danish expertise in cold-water shrimp and want our technology,” said Project Manager Christian Nielsen.

The cooker — Beritech’s fourth sale this year — symbolises the shift towards cleaner, more innovative fishing solutions.

Next stop: DanFish 2027

As exhibitors packed up, AKKC confirmed that the next DanFish will take place from 12–14 October 2027. The 29th edition closed with optimism, cementing Aalborg’s role as a global fisheries hub.
