The value of exported goods from the Faroe Islands reached DKK 13.3 billion in the 12 months from October 2024 to September 2025, almost DKK 1.4 billion higher than the previous year.

The most significant shift came from mackerel exports, which increased by more than DKK 1.1 billion, a 131% rise.

Mackerel Drives Growth

Export volumes of mackerel rose 67% compared to the previous year, but most of the value increase came from higher prices. Total mackerel export value climbed from DKK 858.4 million to DKK 1.98 billion.

Salmon Value Falls Despite Higher Volumes

Salmon exports dropped by DKK 273.4 million, down 4.5% in value, even as volumes grew nearly 12%.

Prices have been trending lower, falling from around DKK 55–90 per kilo to roughly DKK 40–75 per kilo, with about DKK 50 per kilo recorded in September 2025.

Strong Trade With EU and Asia

Exports to the EU rose by DKK 698 million, while shipments to Asia — mainly China — increased by DKK 236 million.

Exports to Russia also rose by DKK 436 million, as trade resumed growth following earlier declines linked to the halt in salmon exports in 2022.
