Several trawlers in the Síldarvinnslan group have landed catches at different Icelandic ports in recent days, with two vessels reporting near or full loads and one landing 115 tonnes on Tuesday.
Bergey VE landed in Vestmannaeyjar on Sunday. Vestmannaey VE landed in Neskaupstaður on Monday. Gullver NS is landing in Seyðisfjörður on Tuesday.
Bergey VE: near full load
Bergey VE came ashore with an almost full catch after fishing at Pétursey and Vík. The catch was mainly cod, with some saithe. Skipper Ragnar Waage Pálmason said conditions were good for most of the trip before worsening at the end.
After landing, the vessel left port on Sunday evening and headed east, with poor weather expected along the south coast.
Vestmannaey VE: full load in Neskaupstaður
Vestmannaey VE landed a full load in Neskaupstaður. The catch was mainly cod and mixed fish. Skipper Birgir Þór Sverrisson said fishing started off Langanes and at Brettingsstaðir, before moving to Digranesflak and the Eilífðarkantur off Héraðsflói.
The trip ended at Litladýpið, where capelin was found with fish. The vessel has since returned to sea to target haddock and expects to land again on Thursday.
Gullver NS: 115 tonnes landed
Gullver NS is landing 115 tonnes in Seyðisfjörður. About half of the catch is cod, with the rest saithe and haddock. The trip lasted six and a half days and covered several grounds, including Breiðdalsgrunnur, Stokksnesgrunn, Digranesflak, Gletting and Tangaflak. Skipper Þórhallur Jónsson described the trip as a good one.
