Several Icelandic trawlers from the Síldarvinnslan group have landed mixed catches in their home ports in recent days, following short trips and weather-hit fishing in southern waters.

Full hold landed in Grindavík

The trawler Jóhanna Gísladóttir GK landed a full hold in Grindavík on Saturday. The catch was mainly redfish and wolffish. The trip lasted just three days.

Fishing started off Látrabjarg and ended in Jökuldýpi. Around 30 tonnes of redfish were taken there in three short hauls, according to skipper Einar Ólafur Ágústsson. He said the trip went very well, and the vessel sailed again on Saturday evening.

Weather brings Vestmannaeyjar trawlers to port

The Vestmannaeyjar trawlers Vestmannaey VE and Bergey VE landed in Vestmannaeyjar on Sunday. Each landed about 30 tonnes. The vessels returned early due to bad weather in the southern waters.

Operations manager Arnar Richardsson said conditions had been poor due to strong easterly winds. The main species were haddock and cod. The trawlers are expected to head back to sea on Thursday.

Gullver lands in Seyðisfjörður

The trawler Gullver NS landed in Seyðisfjörður yesterday. Skipper Hjálmar Ólafur Bjarnason said the catch was about 90 tonnes, mostly cod with some haddock.

Fishing took place from Skrúðsgrunnur north to Digranesflak. The trip started slowly, but most of the catch came from Digranesflak. Gulliver is also set to sail again on Thursday.
