Herøyhav AS has christened its new pelagic vessel Herøyhav during a ceremony held over the weekend. The event marked a key milestone for the project. It brought together invited guests to celebrate it, the company said on Monday.

Herøyhav is owned by Herøyhav AS, a family-owned Norwegian shipping company based in Fosnavåg. The vessel is designed for pelagic fishing and has a total length of 75 metres and a breadth of 16 metres.

The vessel was built as a newbuilding number 478 at Karstensens Skibsværft in Skagen, Denmark. The hull was built in Poland, and final construction and outfitting were completed in Skagen. The yard was also responsible for the vessel’s design.

It is classed by DNV as a fishing vessel and will be registered in Norway. The main engine is rated at 5,200 kW and is expected to achieve about 16 knots.

The vessel is equipped with RSW tanks with a total capacity of about 2,425 cubic metres. It also has two freezing units, each rated at 1,500 kW. Accommodation is provided for up to 15 crew members on board.
